Strawberries & cream pastries – Easy Valentine’s Day Dessert Recipe

Ingredients:

Serves 4 | 40 mins prep and cook time | Approx 728 calories (based on one sheet of puff pastry)

  • Frozen ready-made Puff pastry (I am using the brand pampas which comes in a pack of 6 and the above was made from 1 sheet).

  • 1 pack of strawberries

  • Double cream (that I whipped)

  • 1 Lemon

  • 1 Egg/ Milk for glazing the puffs (optional)

Optional extras you could include:

  • Drizzle of honey

  • Icing sugar at the end

  • Fresh mint

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the oven

  • Get your baking tray and line with baking paper

  • Preheat the oven at 180 degrees

Step 2: Prepare the pastry

  • Using the heart cutter make the heart shape in the pastry and place on the baking tray

Step 3: Cook

  • Beat 1 egg and glaze the pastry puffs

  • Put the pastry hearts in the preheated oven for 10 minutes and keep at a high heat

Step 4: Prepare the toppings

  • Finely chop the fresh strawberries'

  • Whip the cream

  • Squeeze 1/4 lemon juice into the cream and fold for some additional flavour

Step 5: Finish and serve

  • Once the pastry has cooled use a spoon to pop the cream on

  • Assemble the strawberries

  • Grate lemon zest over and serve!
